Guidelines for authors

The following are specific guidelines for authors interested in publishing in the Acreditas journal. Strict compliance with these guidelines is suggested to ensure that articles will be considered for review and publication.

The journal accepts and publishes unpublished articles written in Spanish, although it also has the possibility of including those written in English, as long as the authors are native speakers of that language.

General Considerations

1. Registration and Submission

Authors must register as users in the journal's platform to submit their manuscript for evaluation.

The contribution should be submitted in the “SUBMISSIONS” section, available in the “ABOUT” tab of the web page.

Make sure that the registration data are complete, including name, institutional affiliation, e-mail.

If you are already registered you can simply log in with your username and password on the “LOG IN” tab.

In case of any inconvenience to do so, please contact us at: autores@acreditas.com.

2. Authorship and contribution

Papers submitted to the Acreditas Journal should be signed by all those who have made a substantial contribution to the manuscript, in a significant way in the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the study. The use of the CRediT Taxonomy (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) established by CASRAI is recommended.”

Acreditas Journal, aligning itself with the guidelines, definitions and directives established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), recognizes as author the person who originates, develops and materializes an idea, contributing significantly to the intellectual or creative work that is disseminated through the publication. The minimum requirements for authorship:

-substantial contribution to the work

This includes significant participation in key stages of the creative or intellectual process, such as project conception and design, data collection and analysis, or interpretation of results. Being an author requires a relevant contribution that has a direct impact on the development and quality of the work presented.

-responsibility for the work done and its presentation in a publication.

The authorship of a paper entails the obligation to guarantee the accuracy, integrity and originality of the content. Authorship is not limited to technical or administrative participation, but implies an ethical and professional acceptance of the work as a whole.

To detail the contribution of each author to the work, it is suggested to use the criteria defined by the CRediT taxonomy (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).

Conceptualization - ideas; formulation or evolution of general research objectives and goals.

Data curation - management activities to annotate (produce metadata), cleanse data, and maintain research data (including software code, where necessary to interpret the data itself) for initial use and subsequent reuse.

Formal analysis - applying statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize the study data.

Funding - obtaining financial support for the project leading to this publication.

Research - conducting an investigation and research process, specifically conducting experiments or collecting data/evidence.

Methodology - development or design of methodology; creation of models.

Project administration - Management responsibility and coordination of the planning and execution of the research activity.

Resources - Provision of study materials, reagents, materials, patients, laboratory specimens, animals, instrumentation, computer resources or other analytical tools.

Software - Programming, software development; design of computer programs; implementation of computer code and supporting algorithms; testing of existing code components.

Supervision - Supervisory and leadership responsibility for planning and execution of research activities, including mentoring external to the core team.

Validation - Verification, either as part of the activity or separately, of overall replicability/reproducibility of results/experiments and other research products.

Visualization - Preparation, creation and/or presentation of published work, specifically visualization/presentation of data.

Writing - original draft - Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work, specifically the writing of the initial draft (including substantive translation).

Writing - review and editing - Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work by members of the original research group, specifically critical review, commentary or revision - including pre- or post-publication stages.

3. Document Format

The text should be sent in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx), set in letter size with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.

Use Arial 12 pts font, with 1.5 line spacing.

Paragraphs should be justified.

The document should be between 6 and 10 pages long, not including bibliographical references.

Articles with a different format or that exceed the established length will not be accepted.

4. Originality and Exclusivity

Articles submitted to the journal must be unpublished and original, which implies that the content submitted must not have been previously published in any format, whether printed, digital or as part of a public repository. In addition, the manuscript must be the product of the authors' own intellectual work, without copying or replicating existing texts, guaranteeing the absence of plagiarism.

Articles must not be under simultaneous evaluation in other publications. This means that authors must commit not to submit the same manuscript to several journals or other academic or scientific dissemination platforms simultaneously. This practice ensures transparency in the editorial process and avoids ethical conflicts related to duplicity of publications or copyrights.

Authors must submit a signed letter of originality and exclusivity declaring the uniqueness of the manuscript and, in addition, must include a statement in which they cede copyright and reproduction rights to the journal, in case the manuscript is accepted for publication.

In addition, it is essential to include the objectives of the work, which should be clearly defined and will guide the development of the research. The research hypothesis should also be presented, if applicable.
