El estudio de las PYMES de España e Iberoamérica desde la perspectiva de FAEDPYME

Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) contribute significantly to the generation of employment, wealth and national production in a country. Despite this, most studies tend to analyse large multinational companies, leaving aside the vast majority of companies that make up the productive development of a nation. In order to alleviate this fact, in 2008, a group of university professors and researchers from the Universities of Murcia, Polytechnic of Cartagena and Cantabria created the Foundation for the Strategic Analysis and Development of SMEs (FAEDPYME) promoting both nationally and internationally the development of study, teaching and research activities that delve into the study of microenterprises, small and medium-sized companies, both family and non-family. This paper describes some conclusions from the main works published by this foundation specialising in the study of Spanish and Latin American SMEs.
