Abstract

This study examines the international accreditation management process of the Medicine program at Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) as a strategy for quality assurance and alignment with global standards. The objective was to assess compliance with the criteria of the International Quality Seal of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and to certify the Document Management and Archiving Process for Accountability (GDRT). The methodology followed a mixed-methods approach with a descriptive and exploratory design, based on document analysis, comparison of institutional evidence, and evaluation of learning outcomes.

The findings reveal alignment between the graduate profile, the curriculum, and the learning outcomes required by international accreditation bodies. A total of 79 learning outcomes aligned with WFME standards were identified across 15 courses, grouped into four academic blocks: Basic Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Skills, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Medical Research. Additionally, the GDRT process was certified, ensuring traceability, transparency, and sustainability of institutional information.

In conclusion, the implementation of this evaluative process strengthens educational quality, promotes academic and professional mobility, and reinforces UTPL’s international recognition and its continuous improvement in medical education.
